Written by actor/director/playwright Rachel Crothers, first produced on Broadway in 1920, with Crothers playing the lead. A married couple compete for the same artistic prize at a time when their teenage daughter needs guidance. Decades ahead of it’s time, this well-crafted, thought-provoking comedy/drama deals with the dilemma of a woman who is a wife and mother with a career. When ELTC first produced it in 1997, “The Newark Star-Ledger” awarded it The Best Play of the New Jersey Season.
