EAST LYNNE THEATER'S 2012 MAINSTAGE PROCUCTION SEASON
June 13-July 21: "Ruth Draper’s Company of Characters" performed by Suzanne Dawson and Karen Case Cook. Beginning in 1920, and continuing for forty years, Ruth Draper held the stage in this country and in Europe, with her one-woman shows where she played a vast array of characters. From New York society matrons to British schoolgirls, she created detailed scenes with humor and honesty.
July 25-Sept. 2: "The Poe Mysteries" based on Edgar Allan Poe: “Murders in the Rue Morgue,” “The Mystery of Marie Roget,” and “The Purloined Letter.” James Rana adapted the tales and this is a World Premiere.
Sept. 19-Oct. 13: "It Pays to Advertise" by Roi Cooper Megrue and Walter C. Hackett. This screwball comedy has at its core the premise that anything can be sold in America, but it also examines the very nature and romance of advertising and its influence.
Fri. and Sat. Nov. 2 and 3: "Sherlock Holmes’ Adventure of the Norwood Builder" performed in the style of an NBC radio show from the 1930’s.
Nov. 23, 24, Dec. 2, 7, 8, 9 and 14: "Louisa May Alcott’s Christmas." Three of Alcott’s tales, including the opening of Little Women are beautifully brought to life in storytelling fashion. A holiday treat for the whole family.
